Sonja Moonear – ( To The Light ) – [mnml.nl 01]

It just so happens, as fate would have it.

The stars would be aligned and our very first ever podcast in over 10 years falls in the hands of Sonja Moonear.

She is known for releases on : perlon : karat : ruta5.org : kalk pets : & others. In the land of blogs, podcast and safe music, the funk element I find missing so often.

She most certainly doesn’t disappoint.

It’s been years since I decided to have an extremely limited podcast series where quality over quantity was the foundation. I’ve been trying to get something of quality for far too long and I’m truly excited to kick off our first one, (this may be hard to follow) to easily one of my favorite and most talented djs on the planet..

Jay Bliss – ( Cognitive Dissonance ) : [mnml.nl 02]

It’s my true pleasure to finally present our second podcast. Following up on Sonja’s podcast mix wasn’t going to be an easy task.

With some people waiting: 1 year: and others going on: 2 years: I feel extremely honored to have one from him so unexpectedly soon. Organic and natural seems to be the way our podcasts are taking form and this is no exception.

Jay’s release output is hard not to take notice. He has a gigantic release roaster with over 16 ep’s: 33 credits: including releases on labels such as 20:20 Vision, Mixmag, Defected, Bla Bla Records, Fear Of Flying, and many more.

It’s very rare do people create trends and not follow them. Not many have an option to create a lovely balance of true funky minimal mixed with quality minimal house as part of their arsenal.

This mix is everything I enjoy in a mix : weird, deep, moody, and eclectic. It most certain takes you on a journey. This one speaks a little more with each listen. It’s the kind of mix that makes you feel sad it’s ended, has you selfishly thinking it should be longer, and feels like it takes at least 10 listens to slowly get your mind around it.

He most certain doesn’t disappoint and everyone is sure in for a real treat!

Revised January 2009.

Jay Bliss began his DJing career in his hometown of Sibiu, Romania, organizing underground raves. Over the course of a busy three years he gained much local support and was soon an integral part of Hermannstadt’s underground electronic scene.
The year 2003 saw him scoop a first place prize at the first DJ Contest organised at the legendary Chill Out club, and an invitation to mix at the biggest open air event at that time in Romania, DeLa Hoya Festival. A Chill Out club residency was to follow.

After meeting Markus Homm (Freunde Tontraeger / Highgrade / Ostwind) in 2004, the two conspired to open a record shop, Electrique Boutique. It was, at the time, Romania’s only record shop; this a testament to Jay’s ‘can do’ attitude and devotion to the industry.

In both 2005 and 2006 Jay was nominated at ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’ at Romania’s Nights.ro Awards, and in 2006 he founded Exposed Audio – first Romanian net label exclusively for techno music. With this, Jay had an outlet to flex his creative muscles as both producer and organizer.

Developing a style sitting somewhere between house and techno, with strong detroit roots, Jay has gone one to play across Europe supporting the likes of Loco Dice, Guy Gerber, Paco Osuna, Derrick May and Efdemin. Forming Hermannstadt Collective along with fellow Romanian Mihai Popoviciu (Highgrade), the duo signed exclusively to Immigrant Records, soon finding support from the likes of Reboot, Martin Landsky, Simon Baker, Patrick Graser, Valentino Kanzyani, Alex Flitsch, Ryan Crosson and Lauhaus; meanwhile Jay continues to explore his solo endeavors as Jay Bliss and also as Synthcast with Mihai Popoviciu & Markus Homm.

2009 will be an exciting time for Jay with plenty of releases due, and with the debut of his live act expected in summer, now is the time to show support for this undeniable talent.

Please give a very warm welcome to our newest addition!

Unspoken Principles

At this moment, there is a similar 20-year Jupiter cycle, which we were back on 9-11-01.

Finally getting around to a 5–6-year, long-awaited update, adding an SSL Cert – (new internet URL [padlock], icon standard), WordPress, and direct players.

Having a bit of fun, finally letting go, getting some older stuff remastered; clearing the pallet, trying to get loose, and recreate a better ecosystem. Putting things on my own site regarding other topics, mixes, and other thoughts/conversations.
